He was also once appointed to the editorial board of a cosmetic surgery magazine and has written many articles for others.

Education

Dr. Hillel New graduated from the University of Melbourne Dental School in 1991. Preceding his graduation, he was granted a 3-month position at the prestigious Royal London Hospital as a Junior Oral Surgery House Officer, enabling him to develop his oral surgery skills very early on in his career.

In 1998, Dr New was given the opportunity to attend an exclusive implant restorative training program at the Branemark Centre in Perth WA, under the tuition of Professor Patrick Henry, one of the world’s leading educators in Implant Dentistry at the time. Dr New completed his surgical training with Prof. Henry 12 months later.

Over the years, Hillel has been trained to perform both the restorative and surgical phases of dental implantology, advanced full jaw rehabilitation techniques, advanced courses in bone and soft tissue grafting. With a commitment to providing a ‘Truly Informed Smile Makeover’, Dr New also attended training programs on Facial Injectables, Soft Tissue Fillers, Facial Skin Lifting, and Chin Sculpting at the American Academy of Facial Esthetics (AAFE) and in South Korea under the guise of Dr H Kwon - developer and innovator of the "Ultra - V" thread lifting systems.

Mentor & Lecturer for Implant Dentists

With his passion for education and being one of the early dental implants’ implementers in Australia, it was the only sensible next move for Dr New to start a new chapter of his career in the mid-2000s as a lecturer and mentor in implant dentistry, restorative and surgical techniques.

Throughout his journey, he has worked for renowned multinational brands including Nobel Biocare, The Straumann Group, 3M, Southern Implants etc. This included performing ‘live surgery demonstrations for dentists in Australia, conducting series of lectures, and being one of the Key Opinion Leaders (KOL) for multi-national implant manufacturing companies and providing expert opinion for the Dental Board of Australia and Guild Insurance.

Dr New’s vast range of experience in implant dentistry and his knowledge of many systems often sees him called upon as somewhat of an ‘Implant Treatment Trouble Shooter’ helping out clinicians who sometimes inherit complicated cases from outside of their practice or those having trouble with cases from within.

Deeper Sense of Purpose

Dr New is passionate about dentistry and confesses that he always sees himself working in dentistry even after his retirement. The overjoy of his patients seeing their new smiles for the first time and the emotional transformation of patients who were previously told that their case was hopeless or complicated fuels his energy. Dr New is the accredited  Dento-Aveolar consultant at Cabrini Health’s Accident & Emergency Department (Malvern Campus).

His profession has allowed him a comfortable lifestyle but money was and is never a motivating factor for Hillel. Following the untimely loss of his sister a professor in Medicine who headed one of Victoria's largest public hospital departments, he is acutely aware that no amount of money can prevent the inevitable and how precious family and good health are. Dr New is, therefore, committed to dedicate his life for improving oral and overall wellbeing of his patients and people around him.

Surgery is a highly demanding job where the margin for error is just scalpel-thin. To keep himself energised and give the best everyday, Dr New relies on a regular swimming regimen. He is a Masters swimmer, a freestyle sprinter and represented Australia at the Maccabiah Games (the Jewish Olympics, held quadrennially) in 2017 winning a bronze medal in a relay event.

His family keeps him grounded, his hobbies of collecting rare whiskey and wine add a spark to his never-ending battery of energy.
